1. Who can use PuzzlePie
To create an account and play, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a resident of Australia. International access may be available for free play, but only Australian residents are eligible for cash prizes.
- Have legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
- Provide accurate registration information.
We may verify your age and identity at any time, and refuse or terminate access if you don't meet these requirements.
2. Your account
- You're allowed one account, tied to one real person.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe. Anything that happens on your account is treated as your action.
- You can't share, sell, transfer, or rent your account to anyone else.
- If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@puzzlepie.com.
3. Fair play
PuzzlePie is built on a foundation of skill-based, honest competition. The following are strictly prohibited and will result in account closure and forfeit of any prizes (past, present, or future):
- Using bots, scripts, automation tools, or browser extensions to play, hint, or score
- Operating more than one account ("smurfing", "alt accounts")
- Sharing tournament answers between players
- Reverse-engineering puzzle data to extract answer keys before solving
- Tampering with client-side code to alter timing, scoring, or hint behaviour
- Attempting to access another user's account without their permission
- Exploiting bugs to gain an unfair advantage instead of reporting them
We use IP and device fingerprinting (one-way hashed, see our Privacy Policy) to detect multi-account use. We log session data for tournament puzzles and may review it before paying out prizes.
4. Content you submit
When you submit a puzzle to the Community section, write a profile bio, or post anything else to PuzzlePie, you keep ownership of that content. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, store, and (where reasonably necessary) modify it for as long as we operate PuzzlePie.
You promise that anything you submit:
- Is yours to submit (you own it or have permission)
- Doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property
- Isn't illegal, defamatory, harassing, or hateful
- Doesn't contain malware, scams, or links to harmful sites
We can remove any content at our discretion — particularly if it violates these terms or applicable law.
5. Our content
The puzzles, source code, branding, name "PuzzlePie", logo, and overall design of the site are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, scrape, or build a competing product from any of it without written permission.
Playing a puzzle for personal entertainment is fine. Bulk-downloading puzzles to host elsewhere is not.
6. Cash prizes
The Weekly Pie tournament offers real cash prizes funded by us. Full details — eligibility, qualification paths, how winners are chosen, payout method, and dispute handling — are set out in our Prize Rules. By entering, you agree to those rules in addition to these terms.
7. Premium subscription
Premium is an optional paid subscription. It removes daily play limits and unlocks the Premium leaderboard. It does not give you any advantage in the Pie tournament or improve your odds of winning cash.
- You can cancel any time from your Wallet page.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Premium access until then.
- We don't offer refunds for unused time, except where required by Australian Consumer Law. Email us if something has clearly gone wrong and we'll sort it out.
8. Changes to the service
We're constantly improving PuzzlePie. We may at any time:
- Add, change, or remove puzzles, features, or tournaments
- Adjust scoring formulas, qualification thresholds, or prize splits for future weeks
- Change these terms by posting an update with a new "Last updated" date. For material changes we'll show a notice on the site. Continued use after that means you accept the changes.
We won't change rules mid-tournament in a way that disadvantages players who have already submitted scores.
9. No warranty
PuzzlePie is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties that the site will be uninterrupted, bug-free, secure, or available at any particular time. Servers crash, code has bugs, browsers misbehave — we do our best, but we can't promise otherwise.
10. Limit of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither PuzzlePie nor its operators, employees, or contractors are liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site — including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.
Our total liability for any direct damages is capped at the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) AUD $100.
Nothing here limits any non-excludable rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection legislation.
11. Ending accounts
You can close your account at any time from your Wallet page, or by emailing support@puzzlepie.com.
We can suspend or close any account that:
- Breaches these terms or the Prize Rules
- Has been inactive for more than 24 months
- Is the subject of a credible complaint we can't otherwise resolve
When an account closes, your Community puzzles remain live under the licence in section 4 (we may de-attribute them or replace your name with "former player" on request). Your personal data is deleted as set out in the Privacy Policy.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute that can't be resolved between us directly goes to the courts of NSW, and you and we both agree to that jurisdiction.
